For those who have never been sure about what an independent film really is here’s a quick explanation. Indie Films are mainly films that have been produced outside any major film studio. In addition to being independently produced, they are also distributed by independent entertainment companies. Definitely nothing along the lines of The Avengers ha-ha!
Sometimes these films are distinguishable by their content and style and the way in which the filmmakers’ personal artistic vision is realized. Which opens up a lot of doors for telling stories outside of what’s considered mainstream or acceptable.
