5 Things We Learned from The Walking Dead Panel at SDCC

The Walking Dead Panel at SDCC 2016

Didn’t have a chance to attend The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic because you didn’t want to battle the Hall H line of doom? We’ve got you covered!

1. Jeffrey Dean Morgan has never been stopped so many times.

Right after the episode aired Jeffrey, who plays the horrifyingly unforgettable Negan, was being stopped left and right. Fans wanted to know who Negan killed and wouldn’t let up. Even in Georgia, where you assume you’re secluded from fans, they pop up everywhere! But Jeffrey’s got this. He hasn’t spilled any secrets. (Unfortunately.)

2. Chandler Riggs prefers the prosthetic.

Despite hours of makeup and application, Chandler Riggs says that he prefers the prosthetic for his character Carl. The bandage had to be constantly adjusted so the camera could capture his eyebrow in the frame. The grotesque prosthetic takes one hour and looks cooler in comparison.

3. There were hints of Richonne long before they got together.

Danai Gurira, who plays Michonne, saw the beginnings of Richonne when she started to respect Rick and integrate herself into their little family of Rick/Carl/Judith. Danai said, “She is a woman who has to deeply respect the man she opens up to. And she was already developing such a respect for him. The way she treated him versus the way she treated the Governor. She could see he was a good man burdened with leadership versus he needed leadership to feel like a man.”

That realisation made her open up to him and develop the deep connection she now has with him. *insert swoon here*

4. Eugene is the sex symbol you never knew you wanted.

Josh McDermitt, who plays Eugene on The Walking Dead, encountered female cosplayers that were killing it as Eugene during SDCC. For the first time he contemplated that Eugene could be a sex symbol if they gave him a chance!  I don’t know about you guys, but I’m down for this exploration in season seven. No more creeping behind bookshelves for Eugene!

5. We’ll be entering The Kingdom in Season 7!

Showrunners are expanding the world that our survivors live in by introducing new communities and characters like Ezekiel. (His tiger is a bonus!) From where we left off in season six, we can assume that Carol and Morgan will be meeting up with The Kingdom before anyone else does. *crossing our fingers that Carol is ok!*

The Walking Dead returns October 2016 on AMC.
