The Shannara Chronicles season 2 promises bigger fights, risks, and a whole new cast of characters ready to put it all on the line for The Four Lands. Keeping that in mind there are some things that we’d love to see The Shannara Chronicles expand upon in season 2 when it comes to our original cast and the world we’ve grown to love and wonder about.
Here are 5 things we want to see in season 2 of The Shannara Chronicles!
1. More remnants of the past
How the past interconnects with the present makes this fantasy story unique. This isn’t a fairytale that happened in another dimension or time. It’s one that happened in our world, long after it’s been destroyed. We’ve seen glimpses of this past in cars, explosive fields, gyms decorated for high school dances, and the Golden Gate Bridge. And like Ariel from The Little Mermaid, “I want moreeee.” I want to see how time has transformed the world we once knew into the one we are seeing now full of elves and an epic fight just on the horizon.
2. The story behind Eretria’s tattoo & blood
What Eretria thought was a simple brand from a previous owner is the key to unlocking her past. I want to know how she ended up being sold and exchanged to Cephalo. How is she a child of the Apocalypse and why did her blood unlock the Bloodfire? What kind of magic is the tattoo that she has? And was her tattoo part of the reason why she was sent away? I’ve got a feeling that her hidden past is more complicated than any in The Four Lands and I can’t wait!
3. Flashbacks to Allanons life before
We’ve seen pieces of his past appear in the present in the form of people that are still alive. But I’d like to see a young version of him to understand the kind of man that he is now. Because I know what his mission is but I don’t understand why it was so important and what drove him to choose sleep over a person he loved. The hole rough exterior only works for so long. It’s time to humanize and make Allanon a more complex character.
4. An answer to how Amberle will be returning
Creator Terry Brooks has made one thing clear throughout all of his interviews for The Shannara Chronicles: Amberle is no longer an elf. She is a tree. With that in mind it’s really difficult to know or say how she is going to return to the show or how. She’s definitely not returning in full capacity but she appeared in the season 2 trailer and told Eretria to find Wil. And if the Ellcrys is still around then so is she. My guess is it’s going to take touching the Ellcrys to see her once more, even for a moment. It’s quite a tease to know she’s there but not have her out on the field with Wil or Eritrea. But this is TV and things can change at the drop of a dime…
5. Visiting more of The Four Lands
We’ve only explored but a handful of locations in The Four Lands. I want to explore and see the Skull Kingdom, the place inhabited by the race of man in the Southland, and the Gnome and Dwarven races in the Eastland. And even though I grew quickly tired of the Elven race, I want to know more about the Westland and the Sky Elves that abandoned their Homestead for Wing Hove. I want to know more about the people that have lived here for generations to help me better understand what their chances are in the upcoming fight.
