5 Things We Learned from the Once Upon A Time Panel at SDCC

Once Upon a Time brought their magical touch to San Diego Comic Con once again this year and this hilarious cast got to tease some exciting tidbits about what fans can look forward to in the upcoming season. They also shared some new footage, and we have to admit, we’re really, really excited.

Because, Aladdin. Jafar. Jasmine. This is our childhood right here.

Once Upon A Time always does this to us. Always. That’s what we love the show.

The panel was moderated by actress Yvette Nicole Brown, returning for her third time and consisted of show-runners Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis along with cast members Jennifer Morrison, Colin O’Donoghue, Josh Dallas, Lana Parrilla, Rebecca Mader, Emilie De Ravin, and Jared Gilmore.

1. Belle has a taste for the Darkness in Rumplestiltskin

The question of the day, for Yvette, and for fans is: Why Belle? Why? Emilie De Ravin, who plays Belle, talked about that relationship a little and basically said that, as much as Belle wants to see the good in Rumple, and wants him to change, a little part of her is also drawn to the darkness.

And, hey, we might not love that answer, but it’s better than just thinking Belle is too naive to see it.

2. Bromance is in the air for Hook and Charming

Eddy Kitsis promised we would get to see more of the Hook and Charming relationship this season, as they had a fun story-line coming.  This is especially exciting for fans, who’ve been waiting for this relationship to develop for years. These men both deserve a friend …and now it looks like they’re getting it!

3. Regina and Snow’s friendship will get a lot of screen-time

Given the impending arrival of the Evil Queen, Once Upon A Time fans will be treated to the contrast between the growing friendship between Snow and Regina and their past in the Enchanted Forest. The relationship, which was a main part of the Season 1, has taken a backseat in the past few seasons as the show has focused on Emma, and we’re glad they’re going back to their roots.

4. True Love, confirmed, once again. And there was wedding dress talk

In response to the wedding dress excitement in the season 5 finale, Eddy Kitsis joked that Emma’s dress would probably be the same material as her jacket: red leather. Also, Colin fumbled as he tried to avoid the question, which just leaves us thinking there’s something to avoid. Finally, he confirmed, once again, that they are indeed ‘true love’ and promised a little more of Hook’s backstory.

5. The Evil Queen is ‘pure evil’

Regina may have been separated from her evil side in the season five finale, but Lana Parrilla assured everyone she will still be her sassy self and will be looking to find happiness as a fully realized hero. As for the titular Evil Queen, this will be an incarnation unlike any other, as she will be pure evil and have no conscience about hunting down her singular goal: Snow White’s heart.
