We all have our list of actors we love. The ones we follow on Twitter and Instagram, watch whatever show or movie they are in (even if it’s a tiny part), and post about on social media.
This list is to round up all the actors we loved in 2017, whether it’s TV or movie.
With the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi upon us, we are all excited to see Oscar Isaac reprise his role as Poe Dameron in the latest installment in the franchise. We can hardly contain our excitement!
IAIN DE CAESTECKER
Iain De Caestecker has a warm place in our hearts as the loveable Fitz on Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD. His emotional and spectacular performance in the latter half of season 4 made us feel all of the emotions that Fitz was feeling. We can’t wait for his epic return to the show in season 5.
Over the past year, Chris Wood has made his splash landing over on Supergirl as Mon-El. His performance over the course of the show’s 2nd season gave one of the best character development arcs the show has done yet. His epic return in season 3 has us excited and anxiously awaiting the back half of the show’s 3rd season. We are also very excited to see what else he does with his I Don’t Mind campaign, a mental health initiative to help erase the stigma of mental illness.
Mark Ruffalo has won our hearts playing Bruce Banner/The Hulk in the MCU. His most recent film, Thor: Ragnarok has us excited for Avengers: Infinity War in May. We can’t wait see him on the big screen again.
We love Wentworth Miller. We miss him dearly on Legends of Tomorrow (and the other Arrowverse shows), but we loved seeing him in the epic crossover event. We definitely miss having Leonard Snart around. We’ve also loved him on Prison Break, which is the main reason we have been getting very little Snart. Wherever he is, we love watching him on our TV screens.
We love Tom Ellis and watching him on Lucifer every week makes him one of our favorite actors of the year. We are looking forward to the rest of the show’s 3rd season.
This year, Chris Pine stole our hearts as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman, a film that resonated with us in so many ways. RIP Steve. We’re excited to see the next project Pine is in. It’s sure to be a hit.
Around here, we are huge fans of Stephen Amell’s. We love watching him as Oliver Queen on Arrow every week and can’t wait to see what the rest of season 6 has to offer. He’s quite active on social media with his snarky tweets, Facebook live broadcasts (yes, one of the few celebs who still use Facebook), and cool Instagram posts. We love the stuff he shares with us.
Around here, we love Colin O’Donoghue as the enigmatic Killian Jones aka Captain Hook (or Officer Rogers – if you want to be specific) on Once Upon A Time. He has had many versions of his character over the past 6 seasons, but one thing that remains is that we always look forward to seeing Colin on our TV screens every week. We’re excited to see what happens to Hook (oh, Officer Rogers) as the back half of season 7 unfolds.
With Star Wars: The Last Jedi out this week, we are excited to see Mark Hamill reprise the iconic Luke Skywalker on the big screen. This past year, he also had a guest starring role on The Flash opposite Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen. Seeing him on any screen again has us very excited. Oh, he has some pretty awesome tweets too.
Around here, we love Grant Gustin on The Flash. He brings Barry Allen to life in way that we just eat up every week. We’re excited to see where the rest of season 4 is heading. We’re sure it’s bound to be a blast (or as Barry says – a flash).
Who doesn’t love The Big Bang Theory? We sure do, and we love seeing the amazing Jim Parsons bring the iconic Sheldon Cooper to life every week on our TV screens. He never fails to bring us the laughs. What does the rest of TBBT‘s season 11 have to offer? We’re excited to find out. Jim’s Instagram posts are quite funny too.
How could we not love Chris Evans? He’s a real life Captain America (oh, wait he is Captain America). This is man who lives and breathes his character on and off screen, and we love him for it. The past year, we’ve seen him in Gifted, and we just loved the departure from seeing him as Cap. Next year, we look forward to seeing him reprise his role as Cap in Avengers: Infinity War on the big screen.
Freddie Highmore has wowed us this year with his role on The Good Doctor. He blows us away every week with his thoughtful and moving performances. We are very excited to see more out of Highmore next year with the rest his show’s current season.
Many of us here love Andy Samberg’s Brooklyn 99. It’s the kind of show that can give interesting plots without unneeded drama, and it gets us to return week after week. We’re excited to see where the current season takes us.
We loved Chris Hemsworth in Thor: Ragnarok! Never question with us when is a good time to watch Hemsworth on the big screen – there’s always a good time. His latest film has us all pumped up for Avengers: Infinity War.
Around here Jeremy Jordan is beloved. You might know him as Kara’s best friend, Winn, and the DEO’s resident IT specialist extraordinaire on Supergirl. Every week, we look forward to seeing Jordan’s Winn on our screens. Whether he’s helping Kara with a mission or giving her relationship advice, he’s the best friend a superhero could ask for! We look forward to seeing more of Jordan in the latter half of the show’s 3rd season.
A list like this wouldn’t be complete without Chris Pratt. We loved him as Peter Quill/Star Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 this past year. And again, Avengers: Infinity War? Can’t you tell we’re excited?
This past year, Justin Hartley has wowed us as Kevin Pearson on This Is Us. He’s given some show stopping performances that have made us cry our eyes out. We are very excited to for the show to return. We can’t wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds.
Well, what can we say? We love Star Wars! And with The Last Jedi releasing, we can’t not put John Boyega on this list! We love him as Finn! Very excited to see more of Boyega in the future!
These are just a few of the actors that have captured our hearts this year – on the big screen and the small. Someone we missed? Let us know!
