It feels like we’ve been waiting an eternity for the film adaptation of the incredibly popular After books to finally reach our screens. With filming beginning July 16, in Atlanta, and almost daily announcements with regards to cast members, photos and the like, one of the biggest questions fans have been asking is…
“When can we see it?”
Well, ask and ye shall receive! It has been announced today that the After movie has signed a deal with Avrion Pictures, for US distribution rights, and will hit U.S. theaters on April 12, 2019.
As most people (should) know by now, After is the best-selling story of self discovery and first love that follows the experiences of Tessa Young (played by Josephine Langford) and her tumultuous relationship with wounded bad boy Hardin Scott (Hero Finnes Tiffin). Despite always being the good girl, her relationship with Scott makes her question everything she thought she knew, and what she thought she wanted in her life.
The script was adapted by Susan McMartin (Mr. Church), with cast members including Samuel Larsen (Glee), Inanna Sarkis, Pia Mia, and Swen Temmel to name a few. Producers include author Anna Todd, Wattpad’s Aron Levitz, Mark Canton and Courtney Solomon. Other producers include Meadow Williams (who also stars at Professor Soto), Swen Temmel, Eric Lehrman, Jonathan Deckter, Nicolas Chartier, and Scott Karol.
“After is an authentic tale of first love and self-discovery that will resonate with young
adult audiences everywhere. The fans’ passion and enthusiasm for the property is contagious, and we’re excited to help bring this immensely popular story to theaters.” – David Dinerstein, Aviron Pictures president
We can’t wait to see the story that captivated a generation reach the screen. And now that we know the release date of April 12, 2019, the countdown is officially on, Afternators!
