‘Agent Carter’: 5 Questions We Want Answered at Comic-Con

The first season of Agent Carter, bridged the gap between Captain America: The First Avenger and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with the heart-wrenching scene in the finale where Peggy destroyed the last vial of Steve’s blood as a symbolism of her finally letting go of her lost lover, it seems as if the bridging season of Agent Carter is complete and now that the show has a substantial following and new characters that we are invested in, it is time to explore new uncharted territory for the series.

Most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been set in New York, but Season 2 of Agent Carter will take us to 1940’s Hollywood, where the S.S.R will be investigating a dangerous assignment and she unveils a sinister threat to Tinseltown. We are hoping that the Marvel Television Presents panel with the cast and producers of Marvel’s Agent Carter and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will reveal more information about Season 2.

So here is 5 burning questions we want to know concerning Season 2:

1. What role will Angie be playing in Season 2?

The synopsis of Season 2 has revealed that Peggy and the rest of the S.S.R agents will be involved in a case in Hollywood which is what takes them to Tinseltown, and the producers have revealed that they have creating an interesting way to include Jarvis in Peggy’s story as she goes to Hollywood, but why will Angie be going with her? In the first season, Peggy's best friend/roommate was an actress/dancer who worked as a waitress during the day to pay the bills, perhaps after not making it on Broadway, she will try her hand in the movie business? I know there are a lot of Agent Carter fans who hope that Peggy and Angie will get romantically involved this season, and the show runners have said to Variety that they see Angie as Peggy's tether to the real world and the one who encourages her to grow and move on. So will Angie finally get her big break? Will Peggy and Angie become a little more than friends?

2. What 1940’s Hollywood stars will we meet?

When investigating Howard Stark’s former lovers to see which one of them might be a Russian spy, a name on the list Jarvis gave Peggy was Ginger Rogers, and we were not even surprised that playboy Howard had been frolicking with some Hollywood starlets. And now that this season, Peggy and co. will be in the hotbed of the Golden Era of Hollywood, so does that mean we might see some appearances of actors playing Humphrey Bogart or Ingrid Bergman? Or perhaps some famous Hollywood actors could be interwoven into the mystery?

3. What is going to result from the fateful meeting between Dr. Zola and Dr. Faustus/Fennhoff?

We can only assume that the meeting in the finale between the new cellmates - Dr. Faustus/Fennhoff, the Russian hypnotist and Season 1 antagonist, and Dr. Zola, the Hydra scientist who helped to organize the Hydra takeover of S.H.I.E.L.D - culminated in the creation of the Winter Soldier program (a moment of silence for Bucky Barnes). As the series will be showing us the journey of Peggy Carter from the end of World War II to the creation of S.H.I.E.L.D, will we be able to see the creation of HYDRA within S.H.I.E.L.D as well? The explanation that Zola gave to Natasha and Steve in Captain America: The Winter Soldier was interesting but it will be even more fascinating to see that play out on screen - the infiltration and the plotting - especially since we know how it will all unravel.

4. Will the dynamics in the S.S.R. change seeing that Peggy saved all their asses?

This is something I have heard discussed a lot and has caused plenty of frustration among the fans of the show. Peggy saved the S.S.R, and is noted as a valuable member of the team, despite being reduced to a secretarial role in the earlier episodes. But even though her fellow agents - Thompson and Sousa - were aware of all she did to save the day, Thompson still took credit for her work and we could hear a collective sigh among the audience that Peggy was being degraded again. But Peggy herself was not phased, saying that ‘anyone else’s opinion doesn’t really matter’ showing that she has been able to move past being put down by the sexist actions of her colleagues. But what we want to know, will the other agents start appreciating her all-around badassery? Will she finally be getting the credit that she deserves?

5. Will we find out who Peggy’s husband will be?

One of the big mysteries of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is who does Peggy eventually marry? She reveals in the video at the Captain America exhibit in the Smithsonian that her husband is one of the men that Captain America saved. This created some hype in the first season of Agent Carter as avid fans worked their way through all the men Peggy associated with and tried to work out which one would be the lucky one. So far the closest to being right is Daniel Sousa (as Howard Stark marries Tony mom, Maria; Jarvis is already married; Thompson was stationed in Japan and not Europe during the war) who already has a crush on her, and asked her out in the finale. Throughout season 1, Peggy was still very heartbroken over Steve’s ‘death’ but in the synopsis of season 2, it says that Hollywood might come with “new friends, a new home — and perhaps even a new love,” so there’s a chance that her future husband will still be introduced. Or perhaps Peggy will have a few other romances before settling down? Either way, we are still curious to find out who it is that gets Peggy’s heart.

Marvel’s Agent Carter will appear at San Diego Comic Con on Friday afternoon from 3-4:15pm as part of the Marvel Television Presents panel in Ballroom 20. The show will return for Season 2 in January 2016 on ABC.
