We were left with many questions at the end of season three of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and we took the opportunity that we had at San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) to chat to producers Jeph Loeb and Jeff Bell about the past season and what’s coming next.
One of the biggest reveals at SDCC was that Ghost Rider is coming in season four, the producers did not reveal much about what we can expect, other than Robbie Reyes will be played by Gabriel Luna. Jeff Bell went on to say that, “S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been about exploring the usual, the surprising, the odd, the inexplicable, and Ghost Rider and his universe is a new slice of that world, we haven’t explored that type of stories before.”
As Ghost Rider is a mystic character, they were asked if the show will tie into Doctor Strange which will be released in cinemas in November. Jeph Loeb noted that he hopes it will and they are always looking for ways that the film division, the television division and the publishing division can tie into each other because #itsallconnected.
Because we can never let it go, we did ask the producers that because Marvel’s Most Wanted was not picked up if there was a chance we could see Bobbi and Hunter on other Marvel properties, Jeff Bell avoided the question but Jeph Loeb did reassure us by saying that “nothing is impossible”.
The question everyone wants to know is when will Patton Oswalt’s Koenig brothers reappear on the show, Bell commented that the problem is that Patton Oswalt is so popular as he is on so many different shows and finding time in his schedule for him to appear in the show is difficult but they will love to get Patton back on the show.
The producers ended the interview by saying that Elena will be returning next season and that the Inhumans are important, not only to the show as a whole but as an allegory to the way that we treat those who are different to us and how we have to learn to embrace diversity so we can work together as one instead of building walls separating each other.
