New American Assassin Images Show Dylan O’Brien as You’ve Never Seen Him Before

We’re only a few weeks away from seeing Stiles Stilinski face off against the Ghost Riders when Teen Wolf Season 6 premieres… but in the meantime, we’re getting our Dylan O’Brien fix thanks to new images from American Assassin.

The film, which is still in production and does not yet have a release date, is based on the bestselling book series of the same name by Vince Flynn. O’Brien stars as Mitch Rapp, who joins the CIA as an assassin after his girlfriend is killed in a terrorist attack.

New images revealed by USA Today offer a first look at Mitch Rapp in action, along with several of the film’s other key players. Check them out, along with our thoughts on each, below.

O’Brien and Shiva Negar (a Turkish agent) sit in some sort of cafe. (Having been to Turkey, I envy them their tea – it’s amazing.) Dylan’s black shirt appears to match the torn one in the still below.

Here’s hoping Rapp didn’t end up in too much trouble. Here we see him speaking with CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan), who assigns Rapp and mentor Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton) “to investigate a wave of seemingly random attacks on military and civilian targets.”

Speaking of Stan Hurley, here’s the man himself. Michael Keaton plays the CIA training officer and Cold War veteran, who is Rapp’s reluctant mentor.

Here’s one more shot of Hurley. According to USA Today, he and Rapp will share a mutual respect. “The way he guides him is not in a coddling way,” O’Brien said.

Every action movie needs a great bad guy, and Taylor Kitsch (center) takes on that role in American Assassin. Kitsch plays a mysterious and deadly operative who goes by many names and is “intent on starting World War III in the Middle East.”

With such high stakes, you’ve got to hope that Rapp and Hurley have a good team behind them. This still certainly makes that seem like the case. Here we see Negar, Keaton, Nej Adamson, and O’Brien at what seems to be a base of operations or safe house. We know that Negar’s Turkish agent will be working with Mitch Rapp and Stan Hurley, but Adamson’s role is currently unknown.

We’ll keep you posted on the latest American Assassin news as it arrives. Until then, you can catch Dylan O’Brien in Teen Wolf Season 6 (premiering November 15) and Maze Runner: The Death Cure, which resumes filming in February.
