American Gods, the hit Starz show in its second season, will be coming back for a third round! Starz has confirmed that the series will be returning for a third season with a new show-runner. Charles ‘Chic’ Eglee, our newest addition to the American Gods family, is best known for his producer credits on Hemlock Grove, The Walking Dead, Dexter, and The Shield.
According to Neil Gaiman, the evil genius responsible for this world, he’s THRILLED that American Gods will be working with on season 3. Via Variety he said, “Chic is the best partner-in-crime. We’ve been working for weeks now on the shape of the season and I’m delighted that he gets to carry the American Gods torch on to glory. Thank you to Fremantle, Starz and Amazon for having faith in the series, to Bryan, Michael and Jesse for bringing it this far, to all the cast and crew, and most of all to the viewers. It’s their love of the characters that took us to this point, and will take us on to the next chapter.”
Carmi Zlotnik, the president of programming at Starz, followed by saying, “With Chic at the helm, the invaluable insight and contributions of Neil Gaiman and the undeniable talent of this dedicated cast and crew, we know that the show will continue to deliver on the vision and promise laid out in the novel.”
American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Yetide Badaki, Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, and Orlando Jones. It tells the story of Old Gods, who no one really worships or cares about anymore, throwing it down and challenging the New Gods and the current status quo. At the center of it all is Ricky Whittle’s character Shadow Moon. He “seemingly by accident” ends up working with Mr. Wednesday aka Ian McShane. This Old God is here to win, no matter the twisted turns he has to take to get to his destination.
With a season three and a new show-runner, things are looking up for this weird and out of this world show!
American Gods airs Sundays on Starz.
