It’s been quite an eventful month for Arrow fans.
First came news of the show’s eighth and final season (which has been shortened to 10 episodes.) But perhaps more devastating a blow was the news that Emily Bett Rickards, who plays fan-favorite Felicity Smoak, will be leaving Arrow following the show’s season 7 finale.
It was the shot heard around the entertainment world as fans, cast, and media alike all shared their love and appreciation for Rickards’ contribution to Arrow.
“For me, August 3rd, 2012 is the most important day in the history of our show,” Amell wrote. “It was the first day I worked with Emily. Her energy and the vibrancy she gave to Felicity Smoak is only surpassed by what she personally gave to me. She was a co-worker that became a best friend. So on the first day of our last episode together, I’d like everyone to know how deeply I appreciate the past seven years. We wouldn’t be here without you. I love you. And I cannot wait to see what you do next.”
The news feels more painful knowing that Rickards and her co-stars are currently filming the season 7 finale, which has fans and this writer alike feeling the emotions. But, we’ve been blessed with some A+ behind-the-scenes photos from the show’s stars.
Arrow star Stephen Amell shared a behind-the-scenes photo from filming the season finale, which features the Queen family: Oliver, Felicity, Mia, and William. It’s aptly captioned, “Meet the Queens.”

As if one photo wasn’t enough to make our fangirling hearts aflutter, Olicity’s daughter Katherine McNamara shared another behind-the-scenes photo that has us yearning for what could’ve been in season 8.

Could this mean we’re getting future Queen family flashforwards in the finale? You know, in a future where Oliver and Felicity got to raise both of their children in a loving, safe home. Together. We can only hope.
Arrow returns for its final five episodes of season 7 on April 15 at its new time 9/8c on The CW.
