In a world where celebrity accounts get hacked a dime for a dozen, it’s easy to look at Blake Lively’s recent Instagram activity and wonder what the hell is going on! Recently, she unfollowed her husband Ryan Reynolds, deleted all her Instagram posts, and followed only women named Emily Nelson. Instantly your mind can’t help but ask: Has she been hacked? Is their trouble for the powerhouse couple she makes with Ryan Reynolds? AND, IS EMILY THE NEW BECKY?!
The answer to all three is no.
Blake Lively hasn’t been hacked, her and Ryan Reynolds are going full steam ahead as one of the funniest and most entertaining couples in Hollywood, and love is not dead because there is no Emily. Well, in our world there isn’t. Emily Nelson is in fact the character that Lively plays in her new movie alongside Anna Kendrick titled A Simple Favor.
The movie, set to be released September 14, 2018, tells the story of Stephanie, a blogger who is trying to figure out what happened to her best friend Emily (Blake Lively) after her sudden disappearance. Like Emily, Lively is pulling a disappearing act and leaving us wondering where she’s gone and what clues she wants us to piece together as we get closer to the release date.
It’s easy to think that this is it. That it’s just a simple and to the point campaign. But if you look a little deeper, it’s so much more than that. When looking through the Emily’s she follows we noticed some odd things about one use, @hope.for.emily. One of the rings posted on this account looks EXACTLY like the ring that Lively used in her hangman teaser photos before she deleted them all.
Also, there is a photo for a designer on the @hope.for.emily account that is the SAME one that Lively’s character works for in A Simple Favor named Dennis Nylon!
Thank you Blake Lively for giving us a scare that love was dead when you deleted your Instagram posts and for making us get excited that you might be pregnant with those hangman teases. We definitely prefer the latter and can’t wait to see what other clues this Instagram drops! Because these aren’t just simple coincidences. It’s a brilliant plan to leave you wondering and asking yourself, “What happened to Emily?”
A Simple Favor hits theaters September 14, 2018.
UPDATE:
Guys! So much drama. Anna Kendrick responded to Blake’s Instagram hijinks (which we’re still obsessing over). See last week she posted a picture with Blake (from the movie) –
And then posted one with her digitally removed yesterday –
Like what is going on!?!?!??
But Blake decided to return to Instagram today by posting a teaser trailer for A Simple Favor.
Now when is she going to stop screwing with us and follow her hubby again?
