Lego opens up their site to project submissions and have some of the most amazing fan-created Lego sets. In fact, the more hits your project gets, the more likely your idea might end up on the toy sales floor. Sad thing is so many awesome projects cannot actually become a real packaged deal because of licensing rights.
Thanks to these fan-created projects, Lego fans have the Ghostbusters, Back to the Future and Minecraft Official Lego sets. But now… NOW… fans will get Doctor Who sets, if of course, they get the votes.
Sometimes we have to turn down project submissions that refer to specific brands or licensed properties. We do this to avoid getting your hopes up for something we know we aren’t able to make. In these cases, we already know the LEGO Group can’t secure licensing rights to produce construction toys based on a particular brand or property, due to a conflicting interest with a third party. (x)If your project was previously turned down, archived, or deleted due to a licensing conflict that is now resolved, you may re-submit it as a new project. Supporters from past projects cannot be applied to a future project. We now welcome projects based on the following licenses that used to have conflicts: Doctor Who – February 2014. (x)
