Edgar Allan Poe Party: Ch. 1 The Bells Review!

Poe Party is here, my friends! From Shipwrecked Comedy comes an unique transmedia webseries, funded entirely by Kickstarter. And, after it’s premiere this week (and, really, before that), we couldn’t be more excited!

The premise is this: Famous Edgar Allan Poe and his ghostly roommate Lenore are sitting at a dining table clearly set for guests. They have invited his famous author friends along with his “dear, dear friend” Annabel Lee (played by MK Wiles from LBD) to a party you’ll die for.

Yes my friends, a murder mystery dinner party has begun! The clever script takes you back a few centuries, weaving in touches to each famous author invited to this very special occasion.

The audience gets the pleasure of meeting Ernest Hemingway, Louisa May Alcott, Mary Shelley, Charlotte Bronte (played by Ashley Clements from LBD), Oscar Wilde, H.G. Wells, Emily Dickinson, George Eliot, and Fyodor Dostoevsky. Not seen is Agatha Christie, and coming in late is Edgar Allan Poe’s “friend” Annabel Lee (and her, ahem, plus one Eddie, a banker).

Running in at just over 9 minutes, you can instantly tell the cast is already having a great time in this series. The amount of love and hard work that went into this production shines from every aspect in my opinion.

Between the music, the costumes, and the script giving every actor the opportunity to portray these well known authors in a frankly hilarious way, (I mean, of course they want to trade character cards instantly) you never stop enjoying (and laughing). At least until the chilling cliffhanger.

Spoiler alert!

The lights go out, and once again you see see everyone’s surprised faces… except the man who’s face down in the soup! Guests, the party has turned into a true murder mystery.
