Add another Brit to the cast of the Mary Poppins sequel. Probably one of our favorite British actors – Colin Firth.
As if the cast of Mary Poppins Returns wasn’t amazing enough with Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda, Variety reports that Colin Firth is in negotiations to star as William Weatherall Wilkins, president of Fidelity Fiduciary Bank.
You may remember Fidelity Fiduciary Bank as the place where Mr. Banks was employed. The movie is set 25 years after the original Mary Poppins movie, with Michael and Jane Banks all grown up and suddenly getting a visit from their former nanny.
Don’t know about anyone else, but I’d want Mary Poppins to return so I could figure out how she gets all that stuff in her magical carpet bag.
The cast is already amazing – Emily Blunt as Mary Poppins, Lin-Manuel Miranda as a lamplighter Jack, Emily Mortimer as Jane Banks, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, and Meryl Streep as Mary’s cousin, Topsy. The screenplay is being written by David Magee and is based on The Mary Poppins Stories by P.L. Travers.
Mary Poppins Returns will hit theaters on Dec. 25, 2018.
