‘Containment’ WonderCon Interview: Julie Plec

We’re always on the lookout for awesome new TV shows to add to our weekly lineup, and one show that has been on our radar for a long time is Containment. With the premiere (finally!) less than a week away, we’re sharing what we learned about the CW’s latest addition from the cast and creators at Wondercon.

We had the chance to chat not only with the stars of this upcoming CW show at Wondercon, but also with Executive Producer Julie Plec. If that name sounds familiar, you should know that Plec is behind the wildly popular shows The Vampire Diaries and The Originals – meaning that we’re expecting big things from Containment.

While the premise for the show centers around a deadly epidemic, much of the plot will delve into the relationships between people who start off as strangers and are just trying to stay alive. So how will Containment bring love to the apocalypse? “That is one of the things that draws me to these stories, and I don’t know what that says about me,” Julie shared. “It’s The Breakfast Club syndrome, I call it – when disparate people from disparate circumstances are put into the same situation and asked to either get along or survive and not kill each other. And from that always, I think, is an opportunity for unconventional love – and I think that’s one of the reasons I like this kind of storytelling so much.”

Watch our full interview with Containment Executive Producer Julie Plec below, in which she discusses everything from the moments she’s most excited for viewers to see to what goes into managing so many interconnected storylines (something she compares to Game of Thrones).

Containment premieres Tuesday, April 19 @ 9/8c on The CW.

I work a lot. Fangirlish is my baby. I work in social media professionally and I love it - which is probably why I don't keep up on my own. I don't sleep enough and I obsess too much over my favorite things. I need to work on combing my hair more. Or at elast I need to stop dying it different colors.
