The CW To Reboot Dynasty

TheCW_logolarge_960x540When I was a kid, I sat in front of the TV with my Grandma watching Dynasty. She would tell me all about how I should never want a life like that – because money is the root of all evil. As I grew up, I learned that with or without money there is drama, but the drama on television makes you feel better about the drama in your real life.

The CW is my go to for drama, after Bravo – cause I mean who can out drama The Real Housewives, you know. So I wasn’t surprised when I read about them bringing Dynasty back.

That’s right – Deadline reported that The CW is rebooting the drama and we’re stoked. Gossip Girl creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, are heading this reboot in their return to The CW network. We are also stoked that Esther Shapiro and Richard Shapiro – who were the original minds behind Dynasty are teaming with Sallie Patrick on writing the project.

Here’s the logline of what the show would be about: “The Rolls Royce of all primetime soaps, returns in a modernized reboot that follows two of America’s wealthiest families, the Carringtons and the Colbys, as they feud for control over their fortune and their children. The series will be told primarily through the perspectives of two women at odds: Fallon Carrington — daughter of billionaire Blake Carrington — and her soon-to-be stepmother, Cristal — a Hispanic woman marrying into this WASP family and America’s most powerful class. In an age where dynasties appear everywhere — from reality TV to the polling booths — this epic drama features the one percent in all its glitz and gloss, while exposing the dark underbelly: a corrupt world built on backroom deals, betrayal, and, in some cases, murder.”

Sounds amazing? Am I right? We’ve been aching for something like Gossip Girl to return to TV, but this is even better.
