A picture tells a thousand words, right? There are many that I can think of, but to be honest – none that don’t scare me.
I want to have hope. Hope is what keeps me fighting for this series. Hope makes me see that someone is going to see it’s potential. Hope makes me think they got rid of half their writing staff and replaced them with better ones.
Now I know that hope won’t fix the cluster fuck that was the first season. We all can’t travel back in time and replace Ed Decter as show runner before he ever started and created a shadow world that felt like a rejected Nickelodeon pilot or a bad student film.
But I have hope that there will be better this season and so far, Todd Slavkin is saying all the right words to make me believe that the hope we have will pay off.
EW debuted a new still which showcases a darker Shadowhunters. And the first thing that comes to mind – “this is what it should have been all along.”
It should have been darker. Grittier. Not a comedy.
“There were a lot of cool things that perhaps could be cooler, visual-effect wise, the look of the show,” Slavkin tells EW. “We took the rooms and we darkened them.”
Now, will we change our tune and praise the show? Well, if it deserves it we will. If it doesn’t?
Well… you’ll have to wait and see.
