Disney Planning Loki, Cassian Andor Limited Series

The only possible reaction to the news that Disney is planning not just a Loki series, with Tom Hiddleston set to reprise his role as the God of Mischief, but a Cassian Andor series, with Diego Luna also set to reprise the role, is this:

These two series, and more, will headline Disney+, Walt Disney Company’s new direct-to-consumer streaming service, which is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in late 2019.

Diego Luna had this to say about reprising the role of Cassian Andor (sadly, in the years before meeting Jynn Erso): “Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

And, that’s, of course, not all. These two new announced projects join a slate of films and series already planned for Disney+ that include, but are not limited, to new stories set in the worlds of  Monsters Inc. and  High School Musical, as well as plenty of love for that galaxy far, far away. It had, after all, been announced earlier that Jon Favreau would write and executive produce The Mandalorian for the streaming service. The live-action series, which is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order, is currently in production with a lineup of directors that include Deborah Chow (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone WarsStar Wars Rebels), Bryce Dallas Howard (Solemates) and Taika Waititi (Marvel Studios’ Thor: Ragnarok).

There had also been rumors of a Scarlet Witch TV series, though that has yet to be confirmed.

Once again, we just have one thing to say:  Take our money, Disney. Take it.

Though no date has been specified, Disney+ is scheduled to launch in the U.S. in late 2019.
