This may just be the absolute best casting EVER. Mamie Gummer, Caitlin FitzGerald and Candice King have all boarded the adaptation of We Were Liars.
The series, which is inspired by E. Lockhart’s novel of the same name, comes from Julie Plec, Carina Adly MacKenzie, Universal Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie reuniting for a show? Yes, you had our attention with that. Casting Mamie Gummer, Caitlin FitzGerald, and Candice King? We’re already hooked.
Now before you’re like oh, this is gonna be like The Summer I Turned Pretty, I will tell you that you are wrong. However, I will also tell you that The Summer I Turned Pretty is amazing. You should be watching that. The book is an amnesia thriller that is set on a private island off the coast of Massachusetts. We’re learning about the Sinclair family and the let me tell you, the story is addictive. Getting to know the sisters and what unfolds, had me turning the pages.
And now it will have me watching this on the screen.
Gummer will be playing the oldest of the Sinclair sisters – Carrie Sinclair. She thinks of herself as a free spirit, though I am telling you having read the book, that’s debatable (IMO). She’s a mom of two boys, doesn’t drink anymore and is doing everything to be a stable force in her sons lives. When that is threatened – she is threatened.
FitzGerald is Penny Sinclair. Penny thrives off of the status that her parents riches and status have given her and will do anything to maintain that. She’s kinda annoying (IMO). She’s the eat healthy and expensive active wear type of soul. Her self worth is a house of cards, waiting to fall down.
King will be playing the youngest Sinclair sister. She’s Bess Sinclair and is the type of woman who has never had a hair out of place. She’s perfect and normally gets her way. She kinda expects that perfection from her three kids. She’s married to a man her father deems worthy, but one has to wonder, is he? Time will tell, but this summer, that illusion of being perfect may fade, as her marriage may end and it may be Bess’s fault.
The shows first episode is written by Plec and the second by MacKenzie.
We are so excited for this show! This casting is amazing. We can’t wait for more!
