Fangirlish Favorites: Winter Break Binge-Watch

By

2014 is quickly drawing to a close–but before we ring in the New Year, we’ll be reflecting on our favorite media and moments of the year. Today, members of the Fangirlish team are sharing the shows they’ll be binge-watching over the holidays. Even though most of us don’t get an actual Winter Break anymore (curse you, adult life!), there’s always time for some Netflix in front of the fire (or the Fireplace for Your Home DVD–incidentally also available on Netflix–for those of us who live in sunnier climes). Grab some hot chocolate and a blanket and join us for a long winter’s binge-watching session (slash mass Clone Club initiation).

Chloe: Arrow

Arrow had been on my list for ages, so I finally decided to bite the bullet (or the arrow, as it were) and give it a shot. From the first episode, I was hooked–the engaging plot, excellent writing, complex characters, and, fine, Stephen Amell training montages make for prime binge-watching material. Arrow definitely lives up to the hype, and I’m determined to catch up before Season 3 resumes in January.

Liz: Orphan Black

I recently started watching Orphan Black, which is totally captivating. To the point that I can’t watch it when I get ready in the morning or I’ll end up taking three hours to get ready!

I just got the whole season on DVD and recently binge-watched Season 1, so I need to catch up ASAP.

Katie M.: Doctor Who

During every December, I start watching the new series of Doctor Who back-to-back. I think, mainly, because I know that there’s going to be a new episode on Christmas every year. But I also think it’s because Doctor Who tends to embody a quality in humanity I cherish: imagination. There’s always a new twist, a new color, to the TV show. Some people like it, some people hate it. I just enjoy it. Even if it isn’t the best episode. I love the sense of creativity and adventure each new episode with The Doctor brings (especially with 11). Plus, it will probably last you a good majority of the month. Especially if you add the 1963 Classic Series, too.

I swear I’ve seen the earlier seasons about 100 times but I just love them. I could seriously watch them all the time. And I do!! I need to refresh my memory before the midseason premiere of Season 6!

Adele: Breaking Bad

It’s such an addictive and great series and with it being on Netflix, it’s hard not to binge-watch.

Erin: Reign

I will be re-watching Reign. I had given up on the show – but lately, it’s pulled me back in. I was tired of hearing about Francis and listening to him whine.

Melissa: Game of Thrones
