Fangirlish’s NFL Pick Em: Divisional Playoffs 2018

There’s nothing better than some NFL Playoff football to complete your weekend.

The NFL playoffs continue this weekend with some high-profile match-ups as we head into the following week’s conference championships.

Nothing says Divisional Weekend like four games over the course of Saturday and Sunday. Consider our weekend booked.

The Divisional Round kicks off Saturday with the surging Atlanta Falcons coming into Philadelphia to face the Eagles. later that night, the New England Patriots host the Tennessee Titans.

The weekend concludes on Sunday with two thrilling match ups as the dominant Jacksonville Jaguars face off against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Finally, the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings go head-to-head in what could be the best game of the weekend.

Here are our picks for this Divisional Playoffs:

Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018; 4:35pm

Alyssa: Falcons 31, Eagles 20 – No Carson Wentz? No chance. Sorry, Eagles. This is a quarterback-driven league, and Nick Foles just isn’t going to get it done against a surging Falcons team. Atlanta is peaking at just the right time. Damn it, we just might get a Super Bowl 51 rematch.

Lizzie: Falcons 35, Eagles 27 – Matty Ryan vs a Carson Wentz less team? I’m all in on the Falcons right now, and we all know they don’t lack the motivation, considering what happened to them last year.

Charles: Eagles 24, Falcons 21 – I’m going to go with the upset as the Eagles have had two weeks to figure their crap out. The Falcons settled for a lot of field goals against the Rams and a lot of long ones at that. Nick Foles has got to step up though for the Eagles to make it to the NFC Championship game.

Katherine: Falcons 34, Eagles 27 – I agree with Alyssa, that without Wentz, the Eagles just don’t have what it takes to beat Atlanta. Between the momentum that they got from their game against the Rams, to Matt Ryan playing well, and Devonta Freeman & Julio Jones the Falcons look hard to beat.

Tennessee Titans vs. New England Patriots

Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018; 8:15pm

Alyssa: Patriots 34, Titans 17 – The question here is: When does this get out-of-hand? Sure, the Titans were able to mount a second-half comeback against the Chiefs last week. But the Patriots are in a league of their own. Unless Marcus Mariota can toss himself 6 touchdowns. No shot.

Lizzie: Patriots 41, Titans 17 – I hate that this game is so easy, but this game is so easy.

Charles: Patriots 34, Titans 20 – Sigh, this game. I guess I’ll watch it but I don’t really want to. It’s going to be just another predictable Patriots win.

Katherine: Patriots 38, Titans 21 – When the Patriots are in the news and seemingly surrounded by controversy they only seem to play better. Add the motivation to Tom Brady, Dion Lewis, a defense that has found its groove and Tennessee is looking at an even steeper hill to climb than they thought at first.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Pittsburgh Steelers

Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 1:05pm

Alyssa: Jaguars 28,  Steelers 27 – I’ve never wanted the Jaguars to win a game more bad in my life. Screw the whole “let’s just get to New England-Pittsburgh.” The Jaguars defense has a hell of a lot of fight to put up come Sunday. And the last time the Steelers faced the Jags, Ben Roethlisberger considered retirement because he thought he was just that bad.

Lizzie: Jaguars 25, Steelers 24 – Like Alyssa, I will never root as hard for the Jaguars as this weekend. Hell, I might even wear that awful shade of green.

Charles: Jaguars 16, Steelers 10 – Defense trumps all in the playoffs and the Jags have a great one at the moment. Blake Bortles just needs to continue to play mistake-free football. He does that and the Jaguars will make Jason Mendoza one happy dude.

Katherine: Steelers 21, Jaguars 14 – This game is going to be a lot closer than I think a lot of people are giving it the chance to be. And while the prospect of the AFC championship not including the Steelers is interesting I just don’t see it happening. The Jags defense is really impressive I just think that the Steelers win this one.

New Orleans vs. Minnesota Vikings

Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 4:40pm

Alyssa: Saints 34, Vikings 31 – I’m not getting off the Saints bandwagon anytime soon. This should be one hell of a game, and while it’d be cool for the Vikings to play in the Super Bowl at their home stadium, I’m more for the feel-good Saints happy ending here.

Lizzie: Saints 25, Vikings 28 – I think the Saints got everything needed to win – a QB who can and will beat you and an improved defense that can take care of that last stand. The Vikings have a good defense, but can they stop Brees AND the run? Not sure.

Charles: Vikings 23, Saints 20 – Like I’ve said, defense wins in the playoffs. Now while the Saints have a improved one, the Vikings have a nasty one. Can Drew Brees make some dents in it to win? Not enough is my prediction.

Katherine: Saints 31, Vikings 28 – If I had to pick a second favorite NFL team it would be the New Orleans Saints, and this year has only reaffirmed that for me. After a rough start to the season to an incredibly impressive run to the playoffs they have it all. The duo of Ingram and Kamara were silenced last week and the Saints still played really well. I see nothing changing this week except that we see more of Kamara and Ingram.

Who are your picks for the divisional playoffs?
