FOX Releases A Sneak Peek At ‘Gotham’ Season 5

By

Gotham returns to FOX for its final season in four weeks. The network has released a teaser video to whet our appetites. It gives us a quick recap of the end of Season 4, and a taste of the no man’s land Gotham has become since being cut off from the rest of the world.

“It’s Gotham like you’ve never seen it,” promises Chris Chalk, who plays tech guru Lucius Fox. Sean Pertwee, who plays badass butler Alfred, says fans “can expect big and crazy.”

Season 5 is subtitled “Legend of the Dark Knight.” Actor David Mazouz says his character, Bruce Wayne, will work intimately with Ben MacKenzie’s Jim Gordon. “He (Bruce) really is assuming that proactive role in keeping the city safe.”

The teaser also shows us old foes and new, from the Scarecrow to Bane. “Everyone starts to emerge as the classic characters that we’ve all grown up knowing,” says Robin Lord Taylor (Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin).

There are hints at resolutions of some Season 4s cliffhangers. Like what happened to Ed Nygma (The Riddler), played by Cory Michael Smith. “In Season 5 Nygma keeps waking up not knowing where he is or how he got there,” Smith says.

Another cliffhanger: What happened to Selina, left paralyzed by a gunshot wound? “Bruce is trying to get her better. But what ends up happening is going to cause a very drastic change in Selina’s character and Bruce’s relationship with her,” says Mazouz.

“Every season we’ve said, ‘No, trust me, this season is going to be crazier than the last.’ And every time we’re not lying,” says Mazouz.

Cast members say this final season will also tie up story threads going back to the beginning. “Gotham is an origin story. How Bruce Wayne wentfrom being a rich kid in an alley to being a vigilante,” says Mazouz. “I am overjoyed that we were given this opportunity.”
