I am not one for mysteries. I should be, because my Grandmother used to make me watch Agatha Christie and I loved those. But then again, maybe it was the fact that I was spending time with my Grandmother.
I will admit that I wasn’t really going to watch Nancy Drew. I was intrigued by it, sure. But then as I am all the way out, I am pulled in. Freddie Prinze Jr. was added to the cast and all I can think is: well played.
The CW pilot added Prinze to play Nancy’s estranged Dad. He will play Carson Drew, an attorney who has become estranged from Nancy following the recent death of his wife. He attempts to reconnect with his daughter and well, some unsettling things come to light.
The show is based on the books from Carolyn Keene’s novels. It follows Nancy after she graduates from high school. Like most of us – she’s super excited and plans on moving away. But sometimes plans don’t go as expected and they definitely don’t for Nancy. After a tragic family incident, Nancy ends up staying in her town and she finds herself in a murder mystery.
Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage – who also rebooted Dynasty – are behind the Nancy Drew pilot. Supergirl director Larry Teng will direct the pilot episode.
