Freeform is making its foray into the world of superheroes.
The network, which is affiliated with ABC, has greenlit “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” giving the show a straight-to-series order, according to Variety.
Touted as a superhero love story, “Cloak and Dagger” follows a duo of superheroes, Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, who have appeared in several of Marvel’s classic comic books.
According to the description, the live-action show follows a teenage interracial couple that come from different backgrounds that soon find themselves dealing with newly acquired superpowers as they fall in love with each other. Tandy emits light daggers while Tyrone can engulf others in darkness. The pair learn that they are better together rather than apart. While their world might already be challenging, their feelings for each other only add to that complicated world.
There are currently no writers attached to the project, but the search is on. Marvel Studios and ABC Signature Studios will co-produce the series.
