Game of Thrones’ Iwan Rheon cast in Marvel’s Inhumans

Marvel Television has cast Game of Thrones star Iwan Rheon as Maximus, the lead character in their upcoming Inhumans series. Even though Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has already been exploring the Inhumans lore, this stand-alone television series will tell the story of Black Bolt and the royal family.

Maximus, often referred to as Maximus the mad, is Black Bolt’s brother and known for his antisocial and erratic behavior. He is constantly making people do his bidding and is even able to erase their memories. He is also constantly creating new technology to aid him in his schemes. Even though the Inhumans royal family leans more to the good side, Maximus has been usually portrayed as evil. He is fiercely devoted to his family but secretly wants the crown for himself.

It’s no surprise why Rheon was chosen to take on this complex character. His portrayal as Ramsay Bolton on Game of Thrones had people screaming at their television. He was sadistic, terrifying, and incredibly unstable. Even though there was nothing layered about Ramsay, people were attracted to Rheon’s charismatic performance. If anyone can take on this multifaceted killer, it’s him.

Inhumans premieres September 27, 2017 on ABC.
