Chalk it up to speculation, wishful thinking or just a plain old desire to see this loose end tied up, but a sighting of Joe Dempsie in Northern Ireland is basically all we need to start freaking out over the possibility of Gendry coming back to Game of Thrones.
That is, after all, exactly how our Jon Snow is alive watch began – and look how that turned out for us.
So, forgive my excitement at this news. Or don’t. Join me. The last Baratheon might still have a part to play in this game of thrones!
Last we saw Gendry – you know, the last of Robert’s bastards, and a guy who, at this point, has as much a claim on the Iron Throne as just about any of the other big players – he’d just been saved from Melisandre by Davos and was rowing away, presumably, to safety.
That was three seasons ago. At this point he might have reached Daenerys. And he’s probably developed quite an upper body strength. Rowing is good exercise.
All jokes aside, we’re still long ways away from new episodes, and who know when we might get a new books, so speculation is all we’ve got. And Gendry’s reappearance is the last dangling thread the fans are desperately hoping is tied up.
So, what do you think? Is Gendry coming back? Are you excited for the possibility? Do you dream about his reunion with Arya? Share with us in the comments below!
