‘How To Get Away With Murder’ 4×4 Review: Was She Ever Good At Her Job?

On this week’s episode of How To Get Away With Murder, things start to take a turn for some of the characters this week. Let’s review, shall we.

I Thought We Were Over

Over at Caplan and Gold Michaela is hit with a surprise in finding Annalise at the firm that’s she’s interning at to help with a case for the week. Talk about awkward! But this encounter with Michaela causes Annalise to come at Michaela with some harsh truth.

“You’re doing it again. Looking for a mommy everywhere you go. Me, Tegan, whatever woman you encounter next — you want us all to be the mother yours never was.”

Ouch. A little too harsh but Annalise made a little sense on that, as sad as it sounds. Even Michael was thrown aback on that comment. You can only walk on Annalise too far before she slaps you with some harshness. I think it was true, but then again Michaela is the one longing for greatness and coming from a background with instability, I can understand her motives. Sad but also understandable.

GO AWAY, DAD.

Connor’s arc this season is rather different. I gotta say, I miss season 1 Connor alot. He’s very down this season and it’s just not him anymore. Will he even go back to law school after this? His relationship with his father isn’t that great from what we can see, but he seems to be trying to get it better with his son. Connor better not be the one that dies this season. Uh-uh.

I STILL GO TO THERAPY

We learn through Annalise’s therapist through his recording that Annalise triggers him. That was shockingly interesting to find out. Especially since we’re just 4 episodes in with this therapist. I wonder why she triggers him? Maybe it has something to do with guilt from his past? He does play a huge role in this finale, so who knows what to expect from therapist Issac Roa!

CALM DOWN LAUREL

Laurel just wants to bang every guy she sees and actually does with Frank. Raaandom. Laurel continues to bug me every season. I know she’s off her antidepressants and all, but sheesh, get a grip girl. What’s a little strange about Laurel this season is how hellbent she is in taking down her father with all this. I mean I know he killed Wes. But she’s kind of acting like how Wes was back in season 2 with the whole Rebecca debacle. Hmm.

ALSO, WHEN THE HELL IS EVERYONE ELSE GOING TO FIND OUT THAT LAUREL’S FATHER KILLED WES?! This is bothering me!

MY NAME IS…JULIE.

What the heck is Bonnie up to?! Now she’s Issac’s new patient going by the name of Julie Barden. And she continues to go by that name even in the further episodes that lead to the finale when we go through the flash forward.

It’s like she’s getting darker and darker this season. Oh and Nate might be Bonnie’s sober friend or whatever, but you know damn well he still has those hidden lingering feelings for Annalise. So he won’t throw her under the bus just like that to Bonnie. Nooope.

This episode does decent for bringing in some new drama and attempting to bring in more clues of what happens in the flash-forward. Just wish it paced more and things sped up.
