It’s been a minute, but at last we’re gearing up for the release of the third and final Maze Runner movie. The Death Cure hits theaters in January, and we’re getting our first look at our favorite heroes (and villains) back in action.
BuzzFeed News and MTV exclusively revealed a series of stills from the movie, showing (most of) the Gladers back together again and ready for action. The photo above offers our first official look at Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Cranks leader Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito), Frypan (Dexter Darden), and Brenda (Rosa Salazar) – and the other shots promise plenty of action to come.
Let’s take a look.
That last shot in particular is interesting. We’re still not clear whether Teresa will ultimately end up on the Gladers’ side or not – but for now, it looks like she is definitely working with the enemy.
The official synopsis for the movie was also released, promising more danger, mystery, and action before it’s all over.
“In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.”
The trailer should be here soon, but until then, we’ll be theorizing away based on the photos and synopsis. Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
