‘Grey’s Anatomy’ 14×14 Review: Games People Play

By

Who would have thought Meredith Grey would be the one to get played?

On this week’s episode of  Grey’s Anatomy titled ‘Games People Play’, a very eager and pumped Meredith is ready to move along with her research project and while doing so she runs into someone from her childhood.

Auntie Marie. Oh Auntie Marie. Didn’t see that coming, did you? As Meredith or shall we say “Mer Mer” is happy to see someone she thought was a good friend of Ellis back then, she finds out a little too late that wasn’t exactly true.

Ah, what will this mean? I hate it when someone messes with Meredith, but at the same time, I think it’s ridiculously petty that this woman is seeking some kind of revenge on Meredith when she clearly had the issue with Ellis.

I mean, Ellis has passed away now so it doesn’t really make sense that she’s trying to ruin this for daughter!

But as far as things are looking for Meredith this season, I’m happy for her. I also love that she’s not focusing on a new romantic relationship and has paused it for now. Do you, Meredith. Her passion for her work exceeds all limits anyway, and she’s really been able to hone her skills and she seems just fine. We don’t always need to have a love interest for our main characters just because. Remember Nathan? Oh gosh, I was not a fan of it from the start. GLAD THAT’S OVER WITH.

But anyway, now that Meredith has to deal with something that could jeopardize her project, we have April who is not having it and her spiral is taking a toll on her.

Okay, but I’m not going to lie, that scene where the patient’s ear falls off was hilarious. It just seemed too random to not get a laugh or two out of it.

Though with the recent news of Sarah Drew (April) and Jessica Capshaw (Arizona) departing the show after this season is over, who knows how April and Arizona’s story with come to an end.

Meanwhile, I’m absolutely loving the continued storyline with Kimmie because it’s really shining the light on Alex Karev and you know I’m always here for anything Karev. It’s just so amazing getting to see how Alex is with Kimmie and how hard he’s advocating for her. He truly cares about his patients.

And the way that Jo looks at him as he plays chess with Kimmie is so heart-warming. I can’t wait until these two tie the knot, they’re perfect together and I’m glad it’s going well for the both of them.

Speaking of together…sooo…Maggie and Jackson. They finally happened! I can’t say I’m mad about it anymore because this ‘thing’ has been going on for a while now. It was obvious that the writers would bring these two together, I had to stop denying it.

However, something about their chemistry and interactions was intriguing to watch. I mean, Jackson Avery is a hottie himself so seeing him fall head over heels for Maggie and that lingering jealous across his face didn’t make it any easier.

Also, the way that he swooned Maggie in breaking down his idea of their proper date was cute, I’ll admit that.

I’m willing to give these two a shot! I give in!

Other thoughts:

  • Owen and Amelia hooked up. I hope it’s just a one-time thing because having them get back together doesn’t seem great to me.
  • Did you see Bailey’s face when she reacted to the girls’ father when he said: “I’m a malpractice attorney”?! BAD MEMORIES FOR BAILEY.
  • That game night was so awkward, even for me. April was wilding out.
