Two teenage girls taking on tiny Nazis made out of bratwurst? Let’s just say that Yoga Hosers is far from your typical box office release.
The Kevin Smith film, a spinoff to 2014’s Tusk, stars Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp as two yoga-obsessed Canadian high school sophomores (both named Colleen). They are invited to a party thrown by seniors, but they have to get out of their after-school job and take on Bratzis (the aforementioned bratwurst Nazis) to get there.
If you think that premise sounds strange, you aren’t the only one. “It’s a very weird movie,” Harley Quinn Smith admitted with a laugh during our exclusive interview at San Diego Comic-Con. “But to me, it means a lot because it’s a movie that’s centered around two girls and they’re not fighting each other or fighting over some boy – they unite to fight against something,” she said.

Even if that something is tiny sausage men, Yoga Hosers has a lot of heart. “It’s very special and empowering. Although it’s under very weird circumstances, still I think [the movie is] really important for men and women to see because it really solidifies the fact that women can be the center of a movie without having to be falling over some guy or have it involving some love story,” Harley Quinn explained. “It can really just be two girls kicking some major ass and taking some names.”
Those two girls are BFFs Colleen Collette (Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Smith), who have an after-school job at a local convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. Lily-Rose and Harley Quinn are also very close IRL, lending a special element to their on-screen relationship. “We’ve known each other for a long time, and we have always been best friends,” Smith said. “We make each other laugh so much. I would say our relationship is pretty similar to the Colleens’ relationship – maybe the only difference is we’re not fighting little men made out of sauerkraut.”

You may recognize a few other familiar faces in the film’s trailer (below), including MTV’s Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) and Austin Butler (The Shannara Chronicles). Smith, a known Teen Wolf fan, teased the two boys’ characters as being “very different from the people they are in real life.” “Their roles are kind of just complete, straight-up douchebags… really shitty,” she said. “They have a goal in the movie that does not pan out for them. It goes wildly wrong for them.”
