Josephine Langford to Take Lead in ‘After’ Movie

Afternators, the time is here.

With filming of the highly anticipated film adaptation of the international best selling series ‘After’ set to begin July 16 in Atlanta, fans around the world have been following every step of the preparation for years. Author Anna Todd has kept us in the loop the entire way, and now that the movie is about to become a reality, the excitement has reached a fevered pitch.

But with only weeks before filming was set to begin, original cast member Julie Telles was forced to stepped away from the lead role of Tessa Young due to scheduling conflicts. Since the announcement last week, fans have been clambering to find out who will be taking over the coveted role next to Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Hardin Scott).

Announced today, the role of Tessa will now be played but the beautiful and talented Josephine Langford. Her stunning and soft beauty, blue eyes and undeniable elegance immediately sets your mind to scenes of the book, and you can’t deny how perfectly she will fit the character.

Younger sister to Katherine Langford of 13 Reasons Why and Love, Simon, Langford will bring to life the role of Tessa as she embarks on her first year of university and the love story of a lifetime. For those unfamiliar with the series (honestly, where have you been???) After follows Young’s steps toward independence, sexual discovery and true love as she pairs her gentle, quiet nature against the brash, brooding moods of the sexy Hardin Scott. The series blew up the internet on the writing forum Wattpad, launching author Anna Todd into the literary stratosphere. With more than 1 billion reads online, international best selling stats, and now a movie on the horizon, After is a story unlike any other and has taken a generation by the heart.

“I’m so excited to be joining After as Tessa and to be able to bring her character to life. After-nators have been waiting so patiently to see this story and I’m thrilled to be a part of telling it.” – Josephine Langford

Congratulations to Josephine on this coveted role, and we can’t wait to see her make it her own.
