We’re huge fans of Wattpad and it’s authors, We’re excited when something good happens to them. Deadline announced that Netflix ordered a film adaptation of a book that started on Wattpad.
And friends, that makes us happy.
The Kissing Booth is by teenage author Beth Reekles. It started on Wattpad and at the time had 19 million reads and 40,000 comments. She wrote it when she was 15. The book was picked up by Random House, where she signed a 3 book deal.
Komixx Media is producing the movie, with Vince Marcello (Teen Beach Movie), directing it from the script adaptation that he wrote.
Congratulations to Beth. We’ll be watching.
