San Diego Comic-Con is upon us once again! That means there will be plenty of cast interviews and trailers to sink our teeth into. One of the casts who will be attending this year’s festivities is that of The CW’s Legacies. As it prepares to entire it’s sophomore year, the show’s cast and executive producers are also experiencing their second year at SDCC.
In preparation of the juicy details we hope to be revealed at the show’s panel and over the course of the cast and crew’s many interviews, we decided to look back at season one – especially the finale – and make a list of some news we are hoping to get this year at SDCC.
We’re not so sure that filming has begun on the new season of Legacies just yet, so we’re not that optimistic that we’ll get a trailer with footage from the upcoming season. However, as a longtime fan of Julie Plec’s shows, we have come to learn that usually Julie is great about bringing some kind of footage to San Diego Comic-Con. Some of my favorite videos from the TVD Universe are the ones that were shown at SDCC that hardly, if any, new footage in them. Fingers crossed we get a fun video to hold us over until we get to see what’s actually happening in Mystic Falls.
Since Candice King (Caroline Forbes) is moderating the panel, we are more optimistic than we probably should be that they could throw in some cameo news during the panel. We will always want Caroline to return to Mystic Falls and spend some time – on screen – with her daughters Josie and Lizzie. We’d also like to see Caroline and Ric parent two teenage girls. Something tells us that Josie and Lizzie are too good at playing their parents against each other. We’re also up for anyone else Julie Plec and Brett Matthews (executive producers) may be hiding up their sleeves for the SDCC panel. Then again, they may not announce any cameos but we’ll take a “Maybe ___ will return” at this point.
Reveals about the Ascendant
The season one finale left Josie and Lizzie with an ascendant in their lap. We learned over the course of the first season that ascendant may be a key factor in breaking the curse that will cause the twins to merge. It’s a no brainer that the Merge will play a large role in the twins’ lives moving forward. A book in Alaric’s office even hinted that Kai Parker may be involved in that future. Fans of The Vampire Diaries and Kai Parker know he’s never up to any good, but it’d still be nice to see him again. Besides, who better to stir up trouble for the twins other than their psychopathic uncle? Here’s to hoping that the panel will touch on this deadly merge and the possibility of another Gemini witch making an appearance in the new season.
The Lowdown on Our Favorite Ships
Since so many of the cast members are attending SDCC, there will surely be questions about our favorite ships. There is no way all of the fans and entertainment journalists are going to skip out on getting the details on all the relationships at and around the Salvatore School. I need to know if there’s hope for Landon and Hope. Pun intended. I need to know if there’s a possibility we could see more of Josie and Hope. Is there a chance Penelope could come back and shake things up for her ex? Are we ever going to circle back to MG’s crush on Lizzie? I was invested in that and would love to know if the Jenny Boyd (Lizzie Saltzman) and Quincy Fouse (MG Greasley) were also into it. And Alaric! Poor, Ric. I want him to find love so badly. I want him to find someone who will love him as much as I have since he walked into that History classroom in season one of The Vampire Diaries. Ric deserves that.
Hints about Life Without Hope Mikaelson
Season one of Legacies left viewers hanging off the highest of cliffs by killing their lead, Hope Mikaelson, in a blaze of hero glory. She stopped Malivore and saved everyone but wiped herself from everyone’s memories in the process. Penelope Park’s book of student journals may be the key in bringing Hope back and everyone’s memories with her. It’s going to be interesting to see if the cast and crew drop hints about that journal or not. We are also interested in learning how Hope’s presence will or won’t be felt in the new season and how that will affect the Salvatore School, its students, and its faculty. Without Hope, Rafael is stuck in his werewolf form and that is just one of the major effects of her sacrifice. It is clear that Hope is an integral part of the show’s DNA. She’s also the leader of the Super Squad and we can’t go too long without that band of supernatural superheroes. We need Hope back sooner rather than later, so hopefully SDCC will give us some hints about when that will be.
What are you hoping to see from Legacies at SDCC?
What's Your Reaction?
I am a CW enthusiast who spends way too much time fawning over pictures of hedgehogs and starting books I never finish. Oh, and I love Tim Riggins.
