Last season, Legends of Tomorrow really found its footing as it embraced the fun side of its time travel element while also infusing some really good drama in the process. The first season was a learning experience – and Legends certainly learned and improved. We can only assume they’ll continue to improve as we head into a thrilling new season.
We spoke with Legends of Tomorrow stars Franz Drameh and Tala Ashe at San Diego Comic-Con last month, where they teased some of the new aspects we can expect heading into season 3, including new competition and a new face on the team.
When it comes to dabbling in time – whether that’s messing it up or fixing it – it’s usually our group of Legends at the forefront. But it sounds like that’s going to change as we head into this new season as our Legends are going to face a challenge in a new team fixing time.
“We have a new kind of competition,” Drameh said. “This team who are very organized, very skilled, professional, and they’re kind of fixing time. And the Legends of Tomorrow are like, ‘This is our job. We messed it up, God damn it we’re going to fix it.’ They have a little bit of a rivalry with them.”

One of the fun things about this time team is that we’re always welcoming in new faces. Last season brought us Amaya and Nate, and this season we’re going to get another new face – but with a twist. Zari, a Muslim-American hactivist from the future.
“She’s from the future – 2030,” Ashe said. “But you know, 13 years things happen. And the future is a pretty scary and bleak place. She is a very powerful woman, she speaks her mind, she’s a hacktivist in the future. But she doesn’t quite see eye to eye with all the Legends at first because I think philosophically she’s like, ‘We shouldn’t just fix history, we should improve it’ because she’s living in this authoritarian hellhole.”
