When we last left DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, our team of Legends had just infiltrated the controversial 1950s as part of their latest stop to track down the immortal Vandal Savage. But things didn’t exactly go to plan at episode’s end, which left us with a cliffhanger that has us asking: What now?
We chatted with DC’s Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim at WonderCon on Sunday, where he dished on what we can expect when the show returns on Thursday. Regarding that cliffhanger, which Guggenheim thought was “pretty cool,” Thursday’s episode will pick up immediately where the cliffhanger left off and things are going to be rough.
“It’s not going to be an easy thing,” Guggenehim said. “Like they kick Chronos off the Waverider and they’re back and everything’s a piece of cake. There will be consequences as a result of the cliffhanger. Big consequences that will reverberate through the rest of the season.”
As for the question why Sara, Ray, and Kendra were the ones that get “Left Behind,” as the episode title illustrates, Guggenheim said they were chosen for “a very specific set of reasons” that play out in that episode.
With Legends of Tomorrow existing as the first superhero ensemble show, there was the task of bringing together this dynamic group of both heroes and villains that have all seen their share of growth in these first eight episodes. As for character development coming up, Guggenheim dished that we’ll be seeing a lot more development for Jax, on the Rip Hunter/Vandal Savage front, Ray and Kendra’s “roller coaster” romance, as well as another popular pairing that has captured our hearts from the start.

// “We’ve got some very intriguing developments for the fans of Captain Canary relationship,” Guggenheim smirked. “I don’t want to spoil anything, but they’ll be some fun stuff coming up with that.”
Also, remember that final scene in “Marooned” where Snart took Rory out to the middle of nowhere and seemingly killed him? Guggenheim teased that we’re going to see that reappear as we flash back to the events of that episode at some point.
“We will flash back to those moments and then continue on that scene,” he said. “So you’ll see what actually happened.”
So perhaps Rory isn’t dead? You know our motto: Don’t believe anyone is dead until you see a body. And even then it’s sketchy.
