The lads of One Direction have certainly not been void of controversy and drama in their 5 years as a band. One of the biggest bombs to drop was when original member, Zayn Malik, decided to leave the group in March of 2015. Since then, Malik has started a successful solo career, winning awards and making his mark on the industry.
After his split from the band, there had been several interviews and comments circulating from Malik about the distance that formed between himself and his former band mates. While no negative comments were directed at any individual members, the overall theme was a little tense. Rarely did the remaining 1D members make comment beyond support and praise for their former bestie, with Niall Horan even stopping by Zayn at the American Music Awards to offer support and a good ol hand shake.
Well, next on the support line is Louis Tomlinson, who is probably considered the closest to Zayn prior to the split. Recently, Tomlinson spouted his admiration for his mate as he lands 2 BRITS nominations.
“Zayn had an absolute smash with Pillowtalk. It’s a weird feeling to see us all on our own but it’s also nice to feel that you’ve got the support of the other lads.”
The two had a rather public spat on Twitter not long after the split, but rumor has it that since the death of Tomlinsons mother late 2016, fences have been mended.
The BRITS will host the first official showdown between 1D and Zayn, as their songs History and Pillowtalk go head to head on the public voting for British Artist Video.
Who do you think will come out on top?
