The One Direction family remembers their bromance well; the banter, the laughs, and of course that infamous weed video. The friendship between Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik was one of the most enviable of the ‘bromances’ of music, until Zayn left the band in 2015.
Of course, we all remember what followed. The silence, the distance, and then the iconic Twitter feud that showed off Tomlinsons well documented sass. The two were clearly no longer as close as they once were.
But when Louis’ mum Johanna passed away in late 2016, she had a dying wish for her son:
Make up with Zayn.
“My mum said, ‘You’ve got to get back in contact with Zayn. Life’s too f*****g short,'” – Louis Tomlinson to The Sun.
Now, we all know Johanna was one hell of a mum, and it would seem a wise one at that. Following her passing, Zayn reached out to his former friend with condolences. It is said that Zayn was even backstage at the XFactor along with his former band mates when Louis performed Just Hold On with Steve Aoki only days after the announcement of Johannas passing.
Louis always trusted his mothers opinion, and her intuition was there for a reason.
“A mother’s intuition is just f****** crazy. It always felt supernatural to me. My mum always knew what I was feeling and what I wanted.” – Louis Tomlinson
And those were not the only meetings between the two since. It is said that they have gotten together to ‘clear the air’ and mend their broken relationship. Everything was done under the radar to allow them to have their time to talk things through, rather than the hype of media and paps to add to the pressure.
“I can’t stand to hold a grudge with anyone. It doesn’t sit with me right. If there is any animosity, just clear the air. I met up with him and it was nice.” – Louis Tomlinson, the Sun
No matter what has happened between Louis and Zayn, it is good to know that they have cleared the air between them. In a day and age when everyone is so focused on rivalries and pitting artists against each other, this proves that the hype is just that, and no matter what, friends can move passed their spats and find common ground.
