‘Lucifer’: The Truth will Set Deckerstar Free

Hey there Lucifans. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve seen our resident Devil on screen, and as we head into the last five episodes of season three, there’s an opinion, I really needed to put down on paper, figuratively speaking that is.

As you all know I am a die hard Deckerstar shipper, and there really isn’t anything I wouldn’t do (save anything illegal) for Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar. However, something I’ve been mulling over for a while makes me feel the need to send my thoughts into the universe, and that is regarding the possibility of these two *finally* getting over the proverbial “will they/won’t they” hump before Chloe finds out the truth.

Don’t get me wrong, I have no desire to see that stretched out for the entirety of the show, as I think it would be a big disservice to the characters and the story. There’s no need to keep a couple apart forever, if you know how to write conflict while they are together. See Ben and Leslie on Parks & Rec or Jake and Amy on Brooklyn Nine Nine if you need show proof.

However, the elephant in the room I want to talk about today, is about the “truth” reveal we’ve been waiting for since we all watched the Pilot. The day Chloe Decker is finally enlightened that Lucifer has really been telling the truth this entire time and, is indeed the Devil and, former Lord of Hell. Up until this point the show has done a remarkable job, save pacing issues, to tell the story of these two without Chloe knowing, or really believing what Lucifer has been declaring since day one.

Coming into these these final five episodes of season three, I’m going to stick my neck out, and declare I think that Chloe’s time of being in the dark isn’t going to last much longer. I could go into a long list of why, but truthfully first and foremost I believe it wouldn’t make sense to keep this secret from her, especially after letting Charlotte in. The stakes have been raised with the introduction of Pierce/Cain, and quite frankly if there’s no real payoff then I’m left asking, what was the point of bringing him into the story in the first place?

You can disagree or agree with me on this, but I firmly believe before anything happens romantically between Chloe and Lucifer, on top of the need to keep the show’s story from stalling, Chloe has to be let in on the truth. Otherwise she’s only seeing half the picture when it comes to Lucifer Morningstar. I’m not the best at predictions and speculation, as I prefer to go along for the ride on where the writing takes me. However it’s hard to deny that the story with Lucifer, and Pierce/Cain has been building up with these two circling each other, and Chloe stuck right in the middle of it all.

The danger is at an all time high, with Maze poised to strike a partnership with Cain, who’s firmly gunning to get Lucifer out of the way, and launch his plan to somehow use Chloe to die. I can’t accurately use words to describe how afraid I am for her, and angry that Lucifer has no idea. Hell is going to break loose when he does get clued in, and I can’t help but feel it won’t end without Chloe finding out the truth.

Could I be wrong? Absolutely – but whether it’s this season or next season (because I firmly refuse to live in a world where Lucifer doesn’t get renewed), my point here still stands. Chloe finding out opens up a whole new world of story for the show, and even if the “will they won’t they” is still kept up it would feel a lot less….grating if it felt it served the character’s story rather than being dragged out for the sake of drama.

Believe me Lucifer writers, no one likes drama for the sake of drama. So there’s your challenge, and for the love of God please don’t let me down, because faith in TV writers these days is not easy, and I love this show too much to give up now.

That being said, I’m crossing my fingers and praying to Dad for some awesome character development going into these last five episodes, and maybe a moment or two where I die of Deckerstar feels.

Bring it on Lucifer I am READY!

Lucifer returns with it’s final five episodes Monday April 16th at 8/7c on Fox.
