I’m always nervous about book to movie adaptations. To be honest most of the time I set my expectations low, because I know that I am going to be disappointed. It’s a sad but harsh truth.
That being said – as long as the scriptwriter doesn’t fuck this one up – I KNOW this one has the potential of being great because the book is phenomenal and the actors cast are some of our favorites.
What book are we talking about?
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne.
Cast as the leads in the adaptation are Robbie Amell and Lucy Hale. Fandom favorites through and through. The PLL alum has been cast to play Lucy Hutton who embarks on a game of trying to one up her nemesis at work, Joshua Templeton, played by The Flash alum Robbie Amell. The two embark on a rivalry that is complicated by feelings – cause hey, when aren’t things in life complicated by feelings?
Peter Hutchings (Then Came You) has signed on to direct.
“The Hating Game is a gloriously funny and sexy rom-com with a broad audience appeal. We are aiming for films with a clear target demographic and this absolutely hits the spot.” said David Garrett of the co-financier, Mister Smith Entertainment.
What do you think of the casting? Are you on board?
