‘Marvel’s Runaways’ New Trailer Gives You a Million Reasons to Watch

Watch

If you weren’t convinced to give this show a chance, the new trailer will make your choice easy. This is going to be one of those shows that appeals to a wider audience than just Sci-fi or Comic Book fans; although it’s not your typical teen drama either. This show is chock full of amazing characters and you’re bound to connect with at least one, if not more. Watch the trailer below:

What do you do when you find out your parents are part of an evil society that makes ritual sacrifices? Simple, you band together with your group of friends, all of whom may or may not be special in certain ways, and fight back. This is the basic premise of Marvel’s Runaways but it’s not all that’s going on here.

Let’s start with this amazing cast of friends; we have Rhenzy Feliz (Teen Wolf) as Alex the brain, Lyrica Okano (The Affair) as Nico the edgy girl, Gregg Sulkin (Faking It) as Chase the jock, Ariela Barer (One Day at a Time) as Gert the riot girl, Allegra Acosta (Los) as Molly the innocent one, and Virginia Gardner (Project Almanac) as Karolina the perfect girl. This cast is probably the most diverse I’ve ever seen in a quote/unquote Teen Drama. Of the six lead characters, four of them are people of color. Also four of our leads are female, and they are the ones with actual powers and abilities while the male characters mostly rely on their brains. This ensemble is something we don’t encounter enough in media today.

Still looking for reasons to watch? Well how about the fact that Gert has a genetically engineered Dinosaur as a best friend? Or the fact that Karolina may or may not be an alien who is simultaneously struggling with her bisexuality and coming out to her parents who have a certain image they want her to maintain? Or that Molly is so cute and could literally throw a car at you if you go after one of her friends? Or that Nico can pull a powerful staff out and create any spell she wants? Have we managed to convince you?

In short, Marvel’s Runaways is the series you need to watch.

Marvel’s Runaways premieres November 21st on Hulu and airs Wednesdays on Showcase starting November 22nd.
