We’re less than two weeks away from the theatrical release of Maze Runner: The Death Cure, and now we’ve got some WCKD cool teases to help pass the time.
20th Century Fox has released not one, but two new clips – plus a new poster – that offer some interesting insight into this final installment in the Maze Runner film trilogy.
The first clip takes us inside what seems to be a WCKD facility and wastes no time in getting to the action we have come to expect from these films. We see Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), and Minho (Ki Hong Lee) running for their lives as Janson (Aidan Gillen) and several other WCKD operatives chase them down. They need to come up with an escape plan, and fast – which leads to a daring move we can hardly believe.
Aside from the impressive stunts and bravery here, can we just say how much we are living for the Gladers’ new outfits?
The second clip follows Minho as he runs from a Griever – the monster-robot hybrids that prowled the Maze. (Talk about a “surprise bitch” moment.) Is this a dream or hallucination, or has Minho actually returned to the Maze? There’s definitely something fishy going on, which we see further evidence of when some mysterious force pulls Minho to the ceiling just as the Griever is closing in. Consider us intrigued.
In addition to these clips, the new poster for the movie offers some hints at what’s to come.
We see most of the remaining Gladers – Thomas, Minho, Newt, and Frypan (Dexter Darden) – as well as Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito) looking serious as they stand before what looks to be the Last City. Think WCKD HQ – it’s described as “a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all.”
The maze-like structures below the city drives this point home, as does the cheeky new tagline: The end will be WCKD. Here’s hoping it will also be good – at least where the Gladers are concerned.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure hits theaters on January 26.
