Things Get Crank-y in New ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’ Clip

Tunnels are never a good sign. Am I right? You’re underground, there’s next to zero visibility, and they are just creepy AF.

Thankfully, most of the time these fears turn out to be nothing – but unfortunately for our Gladers, that does not seem to be the case in Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

In a new clip released today, we see Thomas (Dylan O’Brien), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), and Frypan (Dexter Darden) driving into a dark tunnel littered with abandoned vehicles. They quickly find themselves surrounded by Cranks who are far “past the gone” – a.k.a people who have lost their minds to the Flare virus. Once things hit that stage, let’s just say that they crave something more than a California burrito. (They eat people, okay?!)

Though they manage to shake the zombie-like Cranks hot on their trail, the boys hit some rubble and flip their ride. This is really not their day… and the Cranks aren’t far behind.

Thankfully, help swoops in at the critical moment in the form of Brenda (Rosa Salazar) and Jorge (Giancarlo Esposito). The day seems to be saved, but we get the feeling that the Gladers’ troubles aren’t over yet.
