Day one, Greenie. Rise and shine. Those were the first words Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) heard when we woke up to his new life in the Glade. Now, the Maze Runner cast and crew are experiencing Day One for the last time as production for the trilogy’s final installment, The Death Cure, resumes production.

The road to the silver screen has not been an easy one for The Death Cure. Just days into filming last March, star Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured in an on-set accident, halting production indefinitely. The film received a new release date of January 12, 2018 a few months later, and we learned that production would move from Canada to South Africa.

The time has finally come for our favorite Gladers to reunite on-screen. Over the past few days, updates and photos have been making their way onto social media from director Wes Ball and cast members, including this epic group shot from Dexter Darden.

Not only does this photo include all of the major remaining Gladers – Kaya Scodelario (Teresa), Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Newt), Dexter (Frypan), Ki Hong Lee (Minho), and Dylan (Thomas) – but it also shows another familiar face. We had speculated previously that Will Poulter (Gally) was likely to return – as would fit the plot of James Dashner’s novels – and it looks like that is indeed the case.

Here are a few other interesting updates from production thus far:

We’ll keep you posted on all the latest Maze Runner news as The Death Cure finally makes its way through production and onto the big screen.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure hits theaters on January 12, 2018.
