Wes Ball, the director of the Maze Runner series, has signed a three-year first-look producing deal with Fox through his new company OddBall Entertainment, as reported by Variety.
Ball and Fox have been a dream team thus far, with their two joint ventures – The Maze Runner and The Scorch Trials – breaking records and making names for themselves worldwide. The director is also set to helm Fall of Gods, a film steeped in Norse mythology and based on a crowdfunded graphic novel, with the studio.
So what can we expect from this first-look deal? No new projects have been announced just yet, but Wes Ball and his partner Joe Hartwick, Jr. will focus on genre titles under the umbrella of their new company. Ball joins other renowned directors – including James Cameron and Ridley Scott – and producers working on the Fox lot.
Ball is currently working on The Death Cure, the third and final installment based on the popular Maze Runner book series written by James Dashner. The film set to begin filming in Vancouver in early March of this year.
Congrats to Wes and Joe on this deal with Fox – we’re sure it will lead to a lot of must-see movie magic!
