Good news, Gladers–we’ll be getting a Scorch Trials fix before the September release of the film. Entertainment Weekly revealed the cover for the upcoming Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Official Graphic Novel Prelude, which “will tell stories that illuminate the lives and backgrounds of several characters featured in the second movie.”
The cover is very similar to the first concept art we saw for The Scorch Trials at Comic-Con last summer, and we are still loving the eerie look of the Scorch, with a city crumbling into the desert. We’re excited to check out this graphic novel interlude between the two Maze Runner films, too. It will be interesting to see how much it reveals about the lives–and look–of new characters such as Brenda, Jorge, Janson (the Rat Man), and the Cranks in general.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Official Graphic Novel Prelude will be released in June from BOOM! Studios (who also created the comic included with the Maze Runner Blu-Ray). Stories by Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly, as well as The Scorch Trials‘ director and writer, Wes Ball and T.S. Nowlin, will be brought to life by artists Marcus To, Andrea Mutti, Nick Robles, and Tom Derenick for this exciting graphic novel. James Dashner’s name does not seem to be attached to the graphic novel, so it will also be interesting to see how it expands on the canon and what new information is revealed.
