The Best of the MTV Fandom Awards – from ‘Teen Wolf’ to Olicity

San Diego Comic-Con brings so much awesome to America’s Finest City every year – but it’s hard to top the MTV Fandom Awards. This celebration of movies, TV, music, theater, and video games returned to SDCC for the third consecutive year, with some of our favorite stars on-hand to present and receive awards from “Fan Freakout of the Year” to “Ship of the Year.”

With more than 21 million votes cast by fans across Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, and Twitter, each category was a tough race (to say the least). Dedicated fans wanted to make their voices heard for their fandoms – especially those nominated for “Ship of the Year” and “Fandom of the Year.”

Lucky attendees were treated to an electric live show hosted by none other than Teen Wolf‘s Tyler Posey, with performances by Kent Jones, Pierce the Veil, and Krewella. Here are a few of our favorite moments from the Fandom Awards (spoiler alert!):

Olicity earns “Ship of the Year” – for the second year running

Though “Ship of the Year” was perhaps the most heated category in the Fandom Awards race (in more ways than one), we have to give it to Olicity fans for their dedication to the pairing they love. Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity) didn’t make it to San Diego in time to accept the award, but Stephen Amell (Oliver) made up for her absence with a moving acceptance speech. He also brought along one of the tireless fans who voted to make this award a reality (for the second year in a row!) as his date. Talk about swoon-worthy.

Shadowhunters wins big and honors fans around the world

If we had to describe the Shadowhunters fandom in one word, it would be “passionate.” This passion was rewarded at the Fandom Awards, with the show winning “Best New Fandom” over the likes of Hamilton and Mr. Robot. Katherine McNamara, Dominic Sherwood, and Emeraude Toubia – looking like Shadowhunters themselves in badass black ensembles – accepted the honor, sharing the love with fans both in the US and around the world for making it happen.

Teen Wolf takes home “Fandom of the Year”

Just hours after the cast revealed during their SDCC panel that Season 6 will be the show’s last, Teen Wolf took home the top honor of “Fandom of the Year.” Talk about hitting us right in the feels. We haven’t even started to process how we’ll say goodbye to a show that has meant so much to us, but seeing stars Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Cody Christian, Dylan Sprayberry, Ian Bohen, JR Bourne, and Khylin Rhambo accept the award on behalf of the entire Teen Wolf cast was a moving moment that felt fitting in light of the news. You’ve gotta love the Teen Wolf love.

Tyler Posey is… Tyler Posey

Speaking of Teen Wolf love, can we all agree that Tyler Posey is an incredible host? The teen wolf himself returned to host the Fandom Awards once again, and he killed it as usual. You can’t top his funny, sometimes outrageous, and always entertaining antics – which you have to see to believe in tonight’s show.
