Looks like Luke Wheeler will be in Nashville, after all. At least according to co-star Chris Carmack.
Previous news reports showed that Will Chase (Luke) and Aubrey Peeples (Layla) would not be returning to the show. It was disappointing but not surprising since both of their characters were forgettable last season. Also, Chase had plans to join the Broadway musical ‘Something Rotten!’ as William Shakespeare, so I understood his absence from ‘Nashville’.
Carmack tweeted a welcoming behind-the-scenes photo of him and Chase on set:

Chase is currently on ABC’s midseason drama ‘Time After Time’, so I wonder how this recurrence on ‘Nashville’ will work. Will he go back and forth between shooting shows, or will he finish one show to shoot another? Will opening for Luke in concert could be part of a flashback, or it could be something totally different. Who knows! It will be interesting to see what the show will do with Luke.
Nashville’s fifth season debuts on CMT, with a two-hour premiere on January 5. Episodes will be available on Hulu the day after they air.
