We’ve got a lot of procedural shows in our lives. We know that there is something about them that draws us in and doesn’t let us go. Look we aren’t complaining about it, we actually like feels television.
One show that we’ve really loved this season has been the newcomer, New Amsterdam.
It was announced earlier this week that New Amsterdam has been renewed for a second season.
“We’ve been so excited to see how much audiences have embraced Dr. Max Goodwin and all the characters that make New Amsterdam such an incredibly compelling medical series,” Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, co-presidents of scripted programming for NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. “Congratulations to [executive producers] David Schulner, Peter Horton, our writers and an amazing cast and crew who have brought these stories to life.”
New Amsterdam tells the story of New Yorks oldest hospital and the people inside of it. The medical director, Max Goodwin, is juggling cancer, a baby on the way and running a hospital. The oncologist Dr. Helen Sharpe is a media savvy fierce woman who is trying to do everything, ER head Dr. Lauren Bloom has an adderall addiction that she’s trying to break, Cardiac surgical boss Dr. Floyd Reynolds who is rebuilding the unit, Neurologist Dr. Vijay Kapoor who is dealing with family issues and being a doctor that has more patience than anyone, but not the most conventional methods, and Psychologist Dr. Iggy Frome who has a heart of gold.
New Amsterdam airs Tuesdays on NBC.
