New ‘Deepwater Horizon’ Stills Offer First Look at Dylan O’Brien’s Role

Who would’ve thought that one of our most anticipated movies of the year would be based on the BP Oil Spill disaster? Well, with two of our faves – Teen Wolf and The Maze Runner’s Dylan O’Brien and Jane the Virgin‘s Gina Rodriguez – in the cast, you had better believe that Deepwater Horizon is on our must-see list.

One of two new stills from the upcoming Lionsgate film offers our first look at O’Brien’s character, Caleb Holloway (above). The second shows Mark Wahlberg, who heads up the all-star cast (which also includes the likes of Kate Hudson, Kurt Russel, and John Malkovich) in the role of Mike Williams.

As maybe goes without saying, given that this film is based on an oil rig, this looks to be O’Brien’s grittiest role yet – literally. The guy is covered in dirt and grime, but we can’t wait to see what he will bring to this role in the sure-to-be-heavy Deepwater Horizon.

About the Movie

Based on the true events that occurred on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico on April 20, 2010. The film chronicles the courage of those who worked on the Deepwater Horizon and the extreme moments of bravery and survival in the face of what would become one of the biggest man-made disasters in world history.

Deepwater Horizon hits theaters September 30.
